The display of the original Nintendo DMG (Dot Matrix Gameboy) was cutting edge for its time, but had very poor contrast, a blurry picture, and was almost impossible to see in low light.

This uses a brand new full-size back-lit IPS LCD display with stunning visibility. It achieves a precise 1-to-4 pixel translation of the original display resulting an incredibly sharp picture, with zero interpolation. It also includes seven different palettes that are selected by pressing the new contrast wheel toggles, including red, green, blue, purple, white, olive and more. The wheel can also be rotated to adjust the screen brightness.

Fully-serviced genuine original Gameboy DMG hardware. The circuit board has been taken from an original gameboy, and carefully cleaned and serviced. Battery terminals have been replaced where necessary.

The new premium buttons and shell from Retro Modding gives you the robust build quality of the original Gameboy, but with a unique, modern colour scheme not found in the original product line. The Retro Modding D-pad and buttons are of premium quality and are functionally identical to those found in the original DMG, especially when compared to the inferior Chinese-made replacements found in many other builds. Most importantly, the D-pad sits taller than the Chinese copies, making for a more responsive and authentic gaming experience.

A new custom glass screen lens replaces the scratch-prone plastic lens found on the original DMG. This results in a screen that is both crystal clear and highly scratch resistant. Simply the best way to enjoy your favourite classic Gameboy Games. Its hard to express what a joy this device is to hold. It feels wonderfully retro, while at the same time, also completely modern.

These days there are countless emulators for playing old games, but nothing beats the authentic lag-free experience of playing them on the original hardware. Just remember to let your kids have a go at some point! To get the most out of your Gameboy, I highly recommend purchasing a flashcart cartridge which makes it possible to play all your Gameboy ROM files from a MicroSD card. The first version of this IPS LCD display had an issue where the grey pallet was accidentally flipped. The issue has been completely resolved in this v2 version.

The Gameboy uses 4x AA batteries (not included). Id advise using rechargeable batteries. This is a handmade restoration product and as such should be considered used. That said a great deal of love and attention has gone into its construction using only premium components to create the best experience possible.
